News: New VW Beetle
New Volkswagen Beetle inherited the best from its predecessor. Volkswagen decided not to change Beetle’s outside appearance dramatically, though several changes in the design include longer hood, more vertical wind-screen, which combined with 0,47 inch lower clearance and 3,3 inch wider bodywork makes new VW Beetle look sportier. Now a customer can choose between two body types: a coupe and a convertible. The manufacturer improved engines and added several special systems aimed at driver’s comfort on the way. Furthermore, three new colors were added to the Beetle palette: Tornado Red, Pure White and Reflex Silver Metallic. Customers now may pick one of three gasoline engines: 1,2L (105 hp), 1,4L (150 hp), 2L (220hp), or one of two 2L diesel ones (110 hp or 150 hp). Modernized engines are said to consume approximately 0,1 gl per 60 miles less fuel then previous ones. After these improvements fuel consumption in the city has been reduced to 25 mpg and 34 mpg on the highway. All the engine options are available with both automatic and manual transmission. A front-wheel drive VW Beetle, built on the Mk VI Golf platform, has a lot of grip and maintains good handling while cornering. |
