Dodge Durango: The Fuel Efficient Car

Durango is an SUV produced from Chrysler’s Dodge division. The first 2 generations were pretty much similar and both were completely based on Dakota featuringbody-on-frame construction. Both the generation models were produced at the Newark Assembly plant.

Initial Generations

The first generation Durango was offered as a midsize SUV segment and the second generation was a full-size SUV. The 3rd generation models are based on Jeep Grand Cherokee platform. The production of current Durango is taking place at the Jefferson North Assembly plant, Michigan.

Durango is pretty great when it comes to handling and it also provides a comfortable and composed ride over the bumps. Vehicle performance is adequate with decent V6 power-train, which can be a great asset for towing purposes.

Third Generation

The 3rd-generation Durango joins the crossover club and offers the power of massive V8 engine. Durango for 3rd generation is well-rounded and nicer than its predecessors. In the year 2010, the company released teaser photos of 3rd generation Durango online. New Durango is built at the Jefferson Ave Assembly Plant along with 2011 Grand Cherokee. Durango not only shares the Cherokee platform, but also the engine details, running gear, and chassis parts.

Power train Specs

New Durango also features 2 power-trains. The base engine produces 290HP with 3.6 L V6 engine that produces 290HP power and 260 lb.ft of torsion. The Hemi V8 engine comes with a fuel save mode. The first generation models have better road manner when compared with the other truck-based SUVs, thanks to the wide track, long wheelbase, and sensitively tuned suspension.

The current generation Durango is a large CUV that can accommodate up to seven passengers. Buyers are allowed to choose the2nd-row captain's chair optionally, and it’s currently offered in mid level crew, and well equipped SXT trims.
