A Little Background regarding the Honda Odyssey

During the economic turbulence faced by Japan in the 1990’s, this car was originally conceptualized by the Honda auto makers. The various constraints present lead the Honda Odyssey to be built as a MPV model which was more compact in nature. This model was very popular in Japan and North America. However the first versions of this car were manufactured in Europe, under the car model name of Honda Shuttle.

Over the year Honda, set up its automobile manufacturing unit in Lincoln and wanted to create a larger version of the Honda Odyssey. From the year 1999, larger versions of the Honda Odyssey were made for its North America market, while smaller models were still in great demand in Japan. Between the years 1990 to the early twentieth century, a larger car model of Honda Odyssey called the Honda LagGreat was launched, for its popular North American market.

Honda Odyssey’s performance in the domestic market of Japan

The fourth versions of Honda Odyssey’s started in 2008, for the domestic market of Japan. In the coming New Year’s more versions of the Honda Odyssey’s would be developed for the domestic market in Japan. In these car models, the basic five door design and the four engine cylinder would remain.

- In the first year, Honda Odyssey’s won the special car year award in Japan, in the special category.

- By 1997, it became the fastest car model being sold.

- In 1995, it received prestigious car award from the popular automobile magazine called “Wheel” magazine.
