Opel Meriva: Is It Worth Buying?
The Opel Meriva is an excellent MPV- multipurpose vehicle. It is produced by Opel the German manufacturer, from late 2002 to present. The first generation of the vehicle is classified as mini multipurpose vehicle, whereas the 2nd generation is a compact multipurpose vehicle. It is marketed as the Vauxhall Meriva in the United Kingdom. In South America it is marketed as the Chevrolet Meriva.
Engine features
The Mervia from the launch is available with five engines that are three petrol and two diesels. The 1.7 diesel engine is available with a six-speed automated gearbox and the 1.4 turbo with 140PS and 1.7 that is 130 HP are available with it. Since September 2010 there are two more engines available both diesel and petrol. The diesel engine is a 1.3 that is 95hp and 1.7 that is 130hp and all the petrol engines manufactured are Ecotec.
During the year a new feature was added in the certain engines which are STOP/START which is now clearer and more powerful 1.7 CDTI auto was also included. With these features petrol engine has become more efficient than before. Soon manufacturers are going to add a six –gearbox for the 1.4T (120) petrol engine.
