Toyota Prius: Things To Check When Buying

The Toyota Prius (“pri??s”, Plural is Prii or pri?a?) is a fusion version of medium sized hatchback, which runs on electricity. Previously this was a form of compact Sedan and Toyota manufactures this car. As per the rating of California Air Resources Board (CARB) or The EPA, Pirus is one of the cleanest cars sold in United States from the perspective of its smog emitting features.

Brief History

In 1997, Pirus went on sale for the first time in Japan and was made available with all four dealerships in Japan and that was the first bulk-produced fusion vehicle. In 2000, it was introduced to the whole world. This car is sold tentatively in 80 countries but its largest market is in Japan and United States. Worldwide sales figure of Prius touched the milestone of 1 million in May 2008, then it reached 2 million in September 2010 and recently in June 2013 the figure touched the 3 million mark. But in United States the cumulative sales figure reached 1 million milestone in beginning of April 2011, while in Japan it touched the figure of 1 million in August 2011.

Transformations and Innovations

Toyota, in 2011 with the intention of expanding their family included Prius V, a model with extended hatchback and Prius C, with a subcompact mode of hatchback. In 2012, Toyota released their Pirus plug-in models which were again a hybrid model. In June 2013 the worldwide figure of Toyota sales reached 3.8 million, which is approximately 71.7% of total Toyota hybrid car sales figure, 5.3 million and this is the summation of all the models, which is actually the combined numbers of hybrid models and Lexus, which had been sold since 1997. In August 2013, the total worldwide sales figure of Pirus C crossed 5, 00,000 mark, where Japan ranks first by selling 448,703 Aquas, closely followed by United States, where 65,583 Prii C were sold.
