Founded by Lionel Martin in 1914, Aston Martin was always intended for an elite composed of artists, athletes, actors or people of very high income. This exclusivity has cost Aston Martin decades with balances in red for the simple reason of not to trade their cars to the public. However, the British firm (belonging to Podrive today) has remained firm in its conviction to produce some of the best cars that have travelled the world tracks with calm and patience.
History of Aston Martin
Lionel Martin was a runner of great tourism who in 1913 won the precious prize of Aston-Clinton in mountain running. The following year decided to found his own company which he named Aston Martin, which in the following years had prominent holdings in racing, in trouble by Ferrari, Maserati and Porsche. In 1959 he won the legendary 24 hours of Le Mans test.
Worldwide fame arrived when using an Aston Martin DB5 in the first Agent 007 James Bond film. It also made it in the new films Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, starring Daniel Craig, who used a silver DBS until today. The British band The Beatles was also known for using cars Aston Martin, there is even a legend that tells that the musician Paul McCartney "died" in 1965 while he was returning from study aboard one of these cars, and then a double took his place since then in the band.
Aston Martin has manufactured since always their cars using traditional methods, both so between 1957 and 2000 total production does not reach 12,000 units. He attended several economic crises since the 30's, but the DB models (stands for David Brown, engineer) saved from the fall to the brand.
