History of Peugeot

It is a French brand of cars, commercial vehicles and racing cars that operates from the beginning of the 19th century. It started as a company that manufactured coffee mills and bicycles, first creations of Jean-Pierre Peugeot who sat down since then as a guiding principle of brand innovation. Today, Peugeot (along with Citroen, brand purchased in 1974) is the second largest European manufacturer. Celebrated its bicentennial in 2010.

Beginning of Peugeot

The Peugeot journey started when the Patriarch of the family, Jean-Pierre Peugeot manufactured coffee, oil and textiles mills in his workshop in Doubs, France, business it bequeathed to her two sons, Jean-Pierre II and Jean-Fr?d?ric. In 1810 founded the society "Peugeot brothers" and manufacture saws, springs and umbrella frames. After the second world war continues the tradition of these models: 203 cabriolet is launched at the Paris Motor Show in 1951. 404 Models are beginning to market in 1962, these are listed as French vehicles most beautiful of the Decade. Subsequent years of Peugeot

Peugeot is the protagonist of the Tour de France. Bernard Th?venet athletes won ten times this traditional career on a Peugeot bicycle (won his last Tour in 1977). In the same year, at its plant in Brazil, Peugeot implements the "Carbon wells" plan to counteract the greenhouse effect. In 2011 was released in the micro technology e-HDi * to reduce gas emissions, equipped on models 508, 308, 3008 and the 5008. Since then its models come with this team. The plan is to place a million of these vehicles in circulation by 2013.

In the bicentennial, Peugeot renewed the logo from the classic lion making it more dynamic and more simple. Also, its Electrical model presented at the Geneva Motor Show car EX1 showing a clear trend also ecological protection of environment.

Facts about Peugeot

One of the products that made Peugeot were Saltcellars and pepper pots, tradition that remain today. These items are still manufactured in addition to cars, motorcycles, gardening, etc.

The classic logo of Peugeot (the Lion by stepping on an arrow) was created in 1847.

The naming of their cars with zero to the Center began in 1929 and became a registered trademark. This generated a rivalry with Porsche when he wanted to name one of their models 901 which caused a legal battle that eventually won Peugeot, so Porsche renamed its product to 911 and went to the long one of the most successful of its range. Today both companies have good relationship and even share knowledge and technologies.
