Aston Martin performs recalled more than 17,000 vehicles
The Aston Martin is conducting a recall involving approximately 75% of all models produced since late 2007 after a vendor used a fake plastic material.
17,590 cars are involved in the recall, including all models with the left side toward manufactured since November 2007 and all models with right-hand drive produced since May 2012. The latest Aston Martin Vanquish was not affected by the call.
The British sports car manufacturer found that the Chinese company Shenzhen Kexiang Mould Tool Co Limited, which shaped the accelerator pedal arms for Aston, was provided using fake Synthetic Plastic Raw Material Co Ltd Dongguan plastic material.
Although the plastic part has been labeled as an official product of DuPont, subsequent checks revealed that it was a false material. A spokesman for Aston Martin said there were no reports of accidents or related to the theme, which was under investigation since May 2013 injury.
To this end, the owners of the affected models are being urged to take their cars to a dealer, where a replacement can be installed in less than an hour.
