BMW X2 should arrive in 2017

According to Bimmerpost site, a reliable source of BMW announced that X2 should go into production sometime in 2017. The German brand apparently believes that there is room in line for an additional X model, which share the platform with the second generation of X1 (pictured above).

The source of the Bavarian manufacturer claims that the X2 will be available exclusively with the all wheel drive system xDrive and will adopt a five-door configuration, but with a friendlier profile for a three-door coupe, as seen in larger models and X4 X6.

This is the second time that reports indicate a 2017 release date for the X2, then chances are that the project has already been signed. The engine would power the X1 is linked to a gearbox six-speed manual standard, or an optional eight-speed automatic.
