Compact SUV SsangYong is spotted in testing
The SsangYong is planning to compete with the Ford EcoSport market with a new model compact SUV. After revealing that the show XLV concept at the Geneva show , a project of the South Korean brand was spotted in testing in cold weather.
The project caught, which is codenamed S102, is also one of the first products to come out of the joint Mahindra-SsangYong platform. The S102 is based on the SsangYong X100 and will be launched globally in the first half of 2015. The version of the Mahindra will be released probably about 6 months later.
Rumors suggest that Mahindra and Ssangyong are developing a compact 1.0 turbo petrol engine with variable valve timing and direct injection similar to the Ford EcoBoost engine. It is likely that this new engine is used in this new compact SUV.
