EVs: Toyota wants to introduce wireless charging

Toyota is working on developing a wireless technology to recharge their plug-in hybrid and electric models. The system will be tested later this month as part of a managed program by Aichi prefecture, Japan

With such technology, the models need not be connected to a power source by wires. Instead, it would be sufficient, for example, the car parked in a spot with the device installed in the asphalt to proceed with the charge. Power transmission is via MRI.

Despite the interest in advancing this technology to production vehicles, Toyota has avoided stipulating a deadline for that to happen.
