SEAT has confirmed that will launch in 2016, after two years of design and development, the first model's compact SUV brand.

"This is excellent news as it takes us into new territory, one of the fastest growing segments in the world," said company president J?rgen Stackmann, during the presentation of the annual results for the press, held today, 27 March.

"The SUV is an important pillar in the corporate future of the company and an important step on the path to achieve sustainable profitability," he added.

The SUV segment produces nearly one million cars a year in Europe alone. Reportedly, the first segment model will be developed at its technical center in Martorell, Spain.
