Toyota announces global recall of Prius

Toyota announced on Wednesday (12) a global recall for Prius (2010-2014 models). The call involves 1.9 million units of the hybrid 700 000 which are located in the United States.

According to the automaker, the problem lies in the software that controls the hybrid system of the car. The current version can provide high temperature at some points, increasing the risk of internal damage, resulting in extreme cases, the inadvertent shutdown of the hybrid system.

To fix the problem, owners should bring their models to utilities, where the software update will be done in a process that takes 40 minutes.

Recall to three other models

In addition to the recall of the Prius, Toyota will promote the convening of 260 thousand vehicles, involving RAV4, Tacoma and Lexus RX 350. In this case, an electronic defect can result in improper shutdown stability control, antilock brakes and traction control.
