Toyota should use engine Mazda subcompact
The Toyota struck a deal with Mazda Skyactiv to use their engines for the possible replacement of the Yaris (photo). The new subcompact will be built under contract by Mazda in its new plant in Mexico.
Keishi Egawa, CEO of Mazda in Mexico, told the website Automotive News that Toyota would be responsible for interior and exterior design. The Mazda allocate 50,000 subcompacts per year for Toyota.
The production of the new model will begin between April 1 2015 and March 31, 2016, but the version of the engine that will utlizada was not disclosed. The agreement appears to be a final justification of the promise of Mazda Skyactiv system that would allow low fuel consumption and efficient engines in its class.
