Volkswagen launch larger studies pickup for U.S.

Volkswagen launch larger studies pickup for U.S.

The CEO of Volkswagen of North America, Michael Horn, revealed that the company is considering again a new pickup truck for the United States. When introduced the Amarok in the U.S. market in 2009, VW decided it was not the right choice for the place where there are the largest trucks in the world, which did not prevent the success of the model in other countries.

Horn said the site Autoblog, during the Geneva Motor Show , the Amarok is too small for the U.S., and so it is necessary to discuss again whether the introduction of a new model, and largest, is appealing to the German manufacturer.

But Horn was not the only one to comment on the matter. "We're plotting our strategy back of pickup trucks, but Amarok does not fit very well for the efforts of the market," said Heinz-Jakob Neusser, chief development officer of Engines and Transmissions from the brand that no longer sells the Amarok in the U.S..

Volkswagen was awaiting the launch of the new Chevrolet Colorado (GMC Canyon) to observe and analyze the market response. If demand for the truck is large, could help influence their decision to launch a pickup truck in the United States, or relaunch the Amarok with new proportions.
