Chevrolet in different generations
Chevrolet, a sub compact vehicle was manufactured since the year 2002 by General Motors, South Korea and later by GM- affiliated bodies. The car is marketed all around the world in approx 120 countries being under 6 brands that is Daewoo, Chevrolet, Holden, ZAZ, Suzuki and Pontiac. Aveo belongs to the category of first generation and was initially called as Daewoo Kalos in markets of South Korea and other export markets.
Different names of models in different countries
The models of South Korea were rebranded as Daewoo Gentra, at the same time the other markets marketed the first generation models as Holden Barina in few places like in Pontiac G3, Australasia and later in Canada. Earlier it was Pontiac in Canada and then as Suzuki Swift+ in Canada again.
Aveo of second generation gave its first look in 2011. It was marketed worldwide as ChevroletAveo. In few countries such as Chile, North America, Israel, South Africa, Mexico and Middle East, the car was sold as Chevrolet Sonic. In Australasia, the name was Holden Barina. In December, 2012 the production was midway at Nizhny Novgorod in GAZ plant.
