Chrysler Crossfire: Not Your Ordinary Car
Chrysler Crossfire is available in both roadster and coupe body forms. It is a 2-door rear-wheel drive sports car, and its concept version was unveiled for the first time at 2001 North American International Auto Show.
The car is based on R170 platform and its components are shared with Benz SLK320. The exterior design was great, but the unimpressive driving dynamics and aged platform were major drawbacks. The car was outsmarted by other similar models in the range in terms of brand cachet, performance, and luxury amenities.
Crossfire was released for the first time in the year 2004 and the initial model had got a standard 6-speed manual transmission. The Limited and Base models sold in the year 2004 were powered by a 3.2-liter 18-valve V6 engine that could deliver 215 horses, and decent torsion of around 229 pound-feet.
SRT-6 models come equipped with a supercharged engine developed by AMG. These models are updated with five-speed auto transmission. The 5-speed auto transmission in Crossfire is also sourced from Mercedes. The automatic version can achieve better fuel mileage, just because of the difference in gear ratios.
In the 2004 model, leather upholstery was offered in Limited and Base trims, but the latest version has that as a part of standard offerings.
