Fiat 600: Down The Road with A Classic Car
Fiat 600 is a popular city car that was first produced by the company in the year 1955 and eventually discontinued in the year 1969. It measured 3.22 mm long and it was the first rear-engine vehicle. It was priced in the range of €6,700 or USD 7300. The total number of units produced in between 1955 and 1969 was 2,695,197.
Sold as SEAT 600 in Spain
During 1970s and 80s, the car became more popular in countries like Spain and it is known as SEAT 600. Fiat 600 had hydraulic drum brakes on all the 4 wheels; suspension of the vehicle was a single-double mounted leaf spring.
All the models had three-Syncro 4-speed transaxles. Unlike the Fiat 500 or VW Beetle, the 600 is water-cooled with cabin heater; all the models have generators with external regulators.
In the year 1956, soft-top version was introduced, along with a 6-seat variant 600-multipla. It is the precursor of the present Fiat multi-purpose vehicle.
The top speed of the vehicle is limited to 59 miles per hour and it has got 633 CC inline-4 cylinder engine. The 767 cc version’s speed is limited to 110 kilometers per hour. The car has pretty good defrosting and ventilation systems too, making it a fantastic city car.
