Ford Focus: The Key Features
The birth of Ford Focus
Ford Focus is one of the preferred cars in the compact car segment. This C- segment car has been manufactured by the Ford Motor Company since 1998. The Europe market first saw the sale of Ford Focus in July 1998. In 1999, it went to the North America market for the 2000 model year.
Ford Focus takes over global market
Before the Ford Focus came into the foray, Europe, South America, North America and South Africa were dominated by Ford Escort and Ford Laser. The Ford Focus slowly replaced these cars in the market. Asia and Australasia were ruled by the Ford Laser, and then by the Focus. The beginning of 2012 saw Ford Focus beating the Toyota Corolla to emerge as the world’s best selling automobile nameplate. The British magazine CAR aptly named the Ford Focus as the one of the 50 greatest cars in the last 50 years.
The New Ford Focus
The Consumer Electronics Show in 2011 saw the debut of the Ford Focus Electric. It is an all- electric car, competing with the Nissan Leaf and Chevrolet Volt. By December 2011, customers in United States started getting their deliveries. By May 2012, it was made available to the retail customers. The European release was scheduled for late 2012, but is still in the pipeline. This electric car is still available in limited numbers and currently can be bought only in California, New York and New Jersey.
