Honda Element: Tips To Remember Before Buying
New Honda element is a compact CUV based on the modified version of CR-V platform. Honda Element was manufactured in Ohio and is offered in all wheel drive and front wheel drive formats in Canada and United States belonging to model years 2003 to 2011.
This particular compact sport utility vehicle features a 2.4Lfour-cylinder engine that produces 166 hp and develops torsion of around 160 lb·ft at 4500 rpm. It comes with a standard front-wheel drive or an optional AWD system.
A hydraulically actuated system operates at the time when front wheel slip occurs, and it is also marketed as real time AWD. AWD version in 2006 model was discontinued in Japan.
2006 Element had a towing capacity around 1500 lbs. With a target of 50000 units for the first year sales, the company managed to sell almost 68000 units in the year 2003. By 2010, the company managed to sell only 14k units. On the whole, for almost 7 years, they had manufactured more than 325,000 units.
In the year 2007, Honda Element had won the "Dog Car of the Year" award from Dogcars.com. In the year 2010, it won "Top Safety Pick" in the IIHS annual awards. And, although it wasn’t one of the best-sellers in Honda’s line-up, it managed to garner a good deal of publicity.
