Lamborghini Countach: The Mark Of Greatness
Lamborghini Countach is a mid-engined super car, launched by the Italian automaker in the year 1974. Later, the car was discontinued in the year 1990.
Its design pioneered and commercialized the sharp look and wedge-shaped appearance that you see in many high-performing sports cars. The current “cabin-forward” design concept that pushes the total passenger compartment forward to accommodate the larger engine is also disseminated by Countach.
In the year 2004, the American car magazine Sports Car named the car as third best sports car for the year 1970. It was also listed as number 10 on the top sports car list for the year 1980. The car had also appeared in the “Cannonball run” movie.
The rear-wheels were propelled by a traditional V12 engine that you see in Lamborghini mounted longitudinally with mid-engine configuration. In order to have better weight distribution, the engine is placed backward, output shaft at the front, and gearbox is put in the front.
However, the company planned to include a 5 L power-plant, and the first production cars used Miura's 4-L engine. Later on, advancements increased the overall displacement to 4.8 L and then 5.2 L with 4-valves/cylinder, and its power levels grew higher.
