Mazda 5: Living Up Your Expectations
The Mazda Premacy, a compact MPV introduced by the Mazda, a Japan based automobile manufacturer since 1999 and at the present in its 3rd generation. It is also known as ‘MiniVan-Van’.
Introduction to 1st and 2nd generation Mazda
The 1st generation Mazda Premacy was made in Japan. It was exported to Asia and Europe. The rebadged version of this car was sold in some Asian markets that also include Japan by the Ford as the Ford MAV and Ford Ixion.
The 2nd generation onward is traded as the Mazda5 outside the Japan. In Taiwan, Ford Lio Ho which assembles the second generation car, Mazda5 for the localized markets and become accustomed a rebadged version of this car as the Ford I-Max in the year of 2007.
Comparison of all three generations
The 1st generation Mazda Premacy was a 5 or 7 passenger, 2 or 3 row motor vehicle, whereas the 2nd generation includes a 3 row of seats for above 7 passengers outside the USA and 6 passengers in the American form. Both of the generations characterize removable or folding second row, near-flat doors and fold flat rear seats.
The 3rd generation Mazda5 entered in the event of Geneva Auto Show in the year of 2010. This model of Mazda 5 attained revised styling designs, advertised as Furai and Nagare concepts by Mazda. The new Mazda5 is provided in Europe with either a four cylinder engine of 2.0 liter or a four cylinder engine of 1.8 liter with I-stop start or stop technology of Mazda and direct injection that will lower down the emissions up to 15 percent. These both engines involve a 6-speed manual transmission as a normal as well as some features related to the environment friendly concept.
For the year of 2012, the US Mazda5 is available with a four cylinder engine of 2.5 liter that produces 117 kW (157 HP). A 6 speed transmission is normal in the base model along with the presence of 5-speed automatic as an option where as both the Grand Touring and Touring is available with a 5-speed manual with automatic mode. The 3rd generation started trading in July 2010 and the Mazda5 is available in 3 grades such as 20CS, 20S and 20E. The I-stop is not included in the base model CS.
