Nissan Xterra: Options For Transformations

Built on the platform of Nissan F-Alpha, the Nissan Xterra is a compact SUV. The Nissan Xterra is named after the series of cars made for the XTERRA off-road triathlon race that Nissan had sponsored between the years 1998 and 2006; it is a frontier based vehicle.

In 2005, the Xterra went through a design up gradation that resulted in the Xterrashring the same platform as the Frontier and the Titan. This new model is much bigger than the previous version as it offers a rear differential locker on the model that’s off road. The 4.0 L VQ40D Engine produces 265 hp.

In 2009, the Xterra went through a major make-over with wider options in colors, leather seats on the SE models and lights that are roof mounted on the models that are off-road. The Nissan Rogue, a larger yet cheaper unibody model mercileesly replaced the Nissan Xterra in 2008 at Mexico.

Nissan abruptly stopped the sales of Xterra in Mexico to make room for the new 2009 Suzuki Equator which was revealed at the Smyrna plant apart from its sales drastically falling in the United States and Canada. The Xterra is now an exclusive car with the unibody sold only outside the United States and Canada.

Though around the years 2005 and 2006, the Xterra was sold in Canada along with the X-Trail; but soon after, the Xterra was replaced by the Rogue. In 2012, the production unit of Xterra was moved to Canton, Mississippi from Smyrna, Tennessee.
