Opel Ascona: Classic Car Of All Time
Initially the company was engaged in manufacture of the Kadett C which was a prototype of the Ascona model released later.
The car of the 1st gen is provided in several types of the body, including a wagon and a sedan with two or four doors. Special police car were created on the basis of the last type.
The car of the 2nd gen has much in common with the previous model. It has a rear wheel drive system and a front engine.
Ascona B can be equipped with a wide range of engines, including 1.3-liter N/60 h.p., 1.3-liter S/75 h.p., 1.6-liter N/60 h.p., 1.9-liter N / 75 h.p., 2.0 liter N/90 h.p., 2.0-liter S/100 h.p., 2.0-liter E/110 h.p. and 2.0-liter diesel D/60 h.p.
Ascona C was introduced in 1981 which has been created on the basis of J-Car produced by General Motors. The cabin is characterized by comfort and practicality offering much space for passengers and luggage. The sills, doors and boot are made of galvanized sheet to prevent them from corrosion Ascona C was produced from two- or four-door body type “sedan” or a hatchback with five doors.
The car features practical and reliable design. The customer can choose from a variety of gasoline engines available (1,3 l l N/60. with. 1.3 l l S/75. s., 1.6 N/75 l l. s., l 1,6 l S/82. s.) which have a special mechanism for gas distribution.
The car is also equipped with a four-speed manual transmission. It is provided in the following versions: a sports car SR, Berlina, Luxus and Standard.
The cabin is simple, but functional. The console is located near the dashboard. The most expensive version is the SR with a 3-spoke Recaro steering wheel and sports seats.
