Volvo V40 comes in the form of five door hatchback, got unveiled in the year 2012 at the Geneva motor show. It has a smart cabin and high quality standard equipment with strong and smooth engines. It is put on sale since May (2012) in Europe and since August in UK.
History of V40
Chris Benjamin designed V40 and it remains to be last Volvo designed by Peter Horbury. It was constructed over the modified version of Ford C1 that Volvo C30 used earlier, with variation in power steering as well as revised spring, damper settings etc. V40 is a replacement of S40 as well as V50.
The style of engine is taken from the present Volvo models. It has two engines (petrol) one producing 150 or 180 hp depending on the specifications. A Volvo with 2.5 litre produces 254 hp with diesel engines. There is Ford Duratorq carrying 1.6 litre that produce 115 hp and l5 Volvo (2.0 litre diesel engine) in 2 versions 177 and 150 hp.
Volvo V40 is perfectly suited for 21st century based on economic values. In few countries, V40 T5 produces 213 hp using 2.0 litre at 6000 rpm or from 2,700-5,000 rpm at 300nm. The car is known for its Executive Hatch and has been awarded at Scottish car awards that were held in 2012 in Glasgow.
