Yamaha R6: The Super Bike

The Yamaha YZF-R6 is a class-600 sport bike or motorcycle from a popular Yamaha Motor Company. This bike was first launched in the year of 1998 and after this year, there were updates released due to their revision in the years of 2001, 2003, 2006 and 2008.

The super sport or enhanced version of this motorbike was launched in the year of 1999 and named as Yamaha YZF-R1 Superbike and acts as mate to Yamaha YZF600R sport bike which was more street oriented that continue to sell along the side of the R6. This new motorcycle characterized fully new design of Yamaha’s engine which was capable to produce over 81 kW (108 HP) while motionless. The R6 was the first 600cc manufacturing four stroke motor bike of the world that produced above 75 kW (100 HP) in stock form.

What a new model of R6 contains

The R6 has been modified numerous times since its launching time. Beginning with the model of 2003, it made it fuel injected. The model of 2006 year was an important upgrade along with the presence of a new management system for engine characterizing the YCC-T ride via a multi paper slipper clutch and a wire throttle. The 2008 model included the YCC-1 intake system of variable length for optimizing control at high RPM of an engine and an enhanced Deltabox frame design.

What Yamaha admitted

Yamaha advertised in the year of 2006 that the R6 contained a 17,500 RPM redline. This number was 2,000 RPM more than earlier models of R6 and considered as the largest tachometer redline for a four stroke engine of motorcycle production in the year of 2006. Though, the true maximum RPM was fixed to 15800RPM in the ECU. In the February 2006, Yamaha confessed that the red line of true engine of the bike was higher than RPM of 1,000 in number and lower than the number of indications on the tachometer, also been confessed and provided for buying back any R6 model of motorbike if the customer was disappointed and unhappy.
